Frequently Asked Questions
How many sessions should I have?
Everyone’s needs are different. But I tend to recommend at least six sessions to talk and explore through the challenges and to adopt habits and strategies for longer term change. People commonly maintain a coaching relationship for 6 months
How often should I have sessions?
I recommend having sessions every 1 or 2 weeks particularly in the beginning to build momentum. Some clients then choose to have less regular sessions later in their coaching journey. We’ll check in on session as we go along.
Can we talk about things outside of work?
Absolutely. I’m happy to support you with both work and life areas. In my experience, they’re never truly separate!
A typical coaching conversation often covers both work and other areas of life.
You decide the focus of our sessions, so we can explore topics outside of work, or stick to inside of work.
Whichever is most helpful for you.
Is there homework between sessions?
There can be, but there doesn’t have to be.
Some people find ‘homework’ gives them structure and a sense of momentum between sessions. Others prefer to just have time to reflect.
I offer an actiion & reflection sheet as part the relationship that can help to guide your ideas and create action points.
We can talk about what might be best for you, and adjust as we go.
Are the sessions confidential?
The short answer is yes. I will always do my best to keep your safe and confidential. This includes your contact details and anything you share within a session or over email. The only time this confidentiality will be broken is if I believe there is a risk of harm to you or to others.
I may share ideas or feedback from our work together to support others and to communicate about the work I do. If I do, I will always do this anonymously, unless you give explicit permission to provide accompanying information that could identify you.
If there’s anything you’re not sure of, we can talk it through in our intro call.
What are your qualifications?
I have a BA in Conflict Resolution from the Department of Peace Studies, University of Bradford.
I also hold an MA in International Studies and Diplomacy
I hold an ICF-Accrediated Diploma in Transformational Coaching from the Animas Centre for Coaching.
As a coach, I adhere to the International Coaching Federation’s (ICF’s) Code of Ethics.
Can I have coaching alongside therapy?
Yes. Just let me know if this is the case, and make sure your therapist is happy for you to have coaching at the same time.
If you’re not sure which is right for you, we can explore that together on our intro call.
